Self-aligning ball bearings have two rows of spherical rolling elements, while the outer ring has a common spherical raceway, and the inner ring has two deep groove continuous uninterrupted raceways. They can be open or sealed. This type of bearing allows a larger eccentricity of the shaft compared to the bearing seat, for example, eccentricity caused by shaft deflection.

Features and advantages
Able to adapt to static and dynamic misalignment
Like spherical roller bearings or CARB bearings, this type of bearing also has the ability to self-align.
Excellent high speed performance
Compared with any other types of rolling bearings, self-aligning ball bearings produce the lowest friction, and the temperature rise is lower even at high speeds.
Minimal maintenance requirements
Because the bearing produces less heat, the temperature is lower, which extends the service life of the bearing and the maintenance interval.
Low friction
The clearance fit between the rolling elements and the outer ring can reduce friction and frictional heat.
Excellent light load performance
Self-aligning ball bearings have lower minimum load requirements.
Low noise
For example, self-aligning ball bearings can reduce the noise and vibration level of the fan
